Guy Stanley Philoche will proudly be joining The Society of the Four Arts for a conversation about his career in New York City over the past 20 years.

Philoche, who was born in Haiti and immigrated to Connecticut at the age of 3, knew art was his calling at a young age and pursued his art education at the esteemed Paier College of Art and Yale University. Philoche employs a unique layering technique in his works, resulting in a richly textured canvas. His strong palette is matched by the bold formal qualities of his work. Philoche often incorporates elements of graffiti into his compositions made up of distinguishable forms such as paper airplanes, origami butterflies, and pop-culture imagery. His distinctive blend of pop, graffiti, figures, and subtle abstraction shape the masterpieces that have led him to fame on the Global art scene.

Philoche has also attracted considerable national and international attention, particularly over the last few years as he has propelled his philanthropic efforts. When the pandemic hit in 2020, Philoche turned to Instagram and contacted his fellow artists who had work to sell. In a matter of just a few months, and with the help of investors and collectors, he has purchased over 150 works by up-and-coming artists across the globe, creating what is now The Philoche Collection. As someone who has always sought to support other artists, he saw the struggle faced by artists as a result of the pandemic as an opportunity to take that effort to the next level and pave the way for others, some of whom had never before sold a painting.

In conversation with Sofia Vollmer Maduro of The Four Arts, Philoche will dive into the significance of his various series over the years, including the “Come Fly With Me,” “No Comment ,” and “Game” Series, as well as his highly anticipated new collection, “Love Letter to New York,” which will debut at the opening of this year’s Art Miami Fair. He’ll also discuss in greater detail his development as an artist, his philanthropy, The Philoche Collection, and what the future might hold for him and his work.
