Cavalier Galleries is pleased to announce an outstanding exhibition of landscape paintings. The exhibition highlights the development and diversity of landscape painting in America over the past century and a half, with a focus on regional works from New England and New York. 150 Years of Great American Landscapes opened on October 21 and will be on view at Cavalier’s Greenwich gallery located at 405 Greenwich Ave, Greenwich, CT, through December 4.
Juxtaposing historical pieces with contemporary works, this special collection of American landscape paintings shows the continuity and changes in the genre over the last 150 years. Though landscape’s role in the art world has changed continuously, this important genre will not fall out of favor. Artists continue to paint what they see in their own perspectives, making each painting unique. Each landscape painting is defined by the artist’s individualities and skills, and viewers appreciate this and at the same time, bring in their own points of view.
This exhibition will showcase historic works by great masters such as John F. Kensett, James Abbot McNeil Whistler, Andrew Wyeth, George Boice Durrie, David Johnson, and Walter Launt Palmer.
Contemporary artists featured in this prestigious exhibition include Jacob Collins, Frank Corso, Thomas Kegler, Marla Korr, Nina Maguire, Joseph McGurl, Peter Poskas, Don Stone, John Terelak, and Douglas Wiltraut.
